Dear  Hoden

We are excited to relaunch our English-language newsletter in response to increasing requests. As part of our evolving journey, we have recently stepped away from Meta platforms, but you can still connect with us on Bluesky and the Zen Peacemaker Hive.

A major reason for this relaunch is our upcoming International Peacemaker Retreat in June. We warmly invite you to join us for this special gathering, which will also serve as a Dharma Transmission Retreat.
We would also like to take this opportunity to invite you to Support our work through donations. You can find more details later in this newsletter.
In addition, you are always welcome to join our Hybrid Meditations via Zoom on Thursday afternoons.
Lastly, we encourage those who resonate with our work to consider supporting us through donations. Your generosity helps us continue our mission of engaged practice and peacemaking.

Some of you have been added to this newsletter from my personal contacts, as I thought you might be interested in our updates. If you’d rather not receive these emails, you can easily unsubscribe by clicking the unsubscribe button at the end of this message. No hard feelings!

Looking forward to staying connected,
Mikko

PEACEMAKER RETREAT IN HELSINKI

Helsinki Zen is organising a Peacemaker Retreat in collaboration with Belgian Zen teacher Frank De Waele Roshi. We will explore Helsinki’s interfaith and multicultural activities, spend a day in the outer archipelago of Porvoo bearing witness to the military remnants and the beauty of the islands and the Baltic Sea—an area also titled the most polluted sea region in the world. The final two days of the retreat will be spent on the streets in a small-scale Street Retreat.

At the end of the retreat, Frank Roshi will give Dharma transmission (shiho) in the Zen Peacemaker lineage to Zen priest Mikko Rakushin Kendō IjƤs, after which he will become a certified Zen teacher (sensei).
The retreat offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of Zen Peacemakers’ practices. This time of year is also special in Finland, as the nights are very short near the summer solstice. Participation is limited, so please register as soon as possible.
