Introduction to Zen Meditation II

Saturday, February 8 • 8:00 a.m.

I will cultivate a mind that sees clearly. This is the practice of Not Being Deluded. I will refrain from using intoxicants that delude the mind and from encouraging others to be deluded. I will embrace all experience directly.

Day of Reflection chantsheet

Day of Reflection Transference of Merit

This class meets once each month and includes a full morning following ZCLA's schedule. An instructor first meets with participants to review any questions that have come up since the Intro class, and to provide instruction and review on forms and etiquette in the Zendo. Students then join morning service and follow the Day of Reflection schedule, which focuses on working with the Zen precepts. In the Zendo, class participants are invited to meet privately with a Zen Center teacher to discuss their practice and any questions they may have. Following morning sitting and a snack, we participate in Council, in which we reflect and share together on one of the Zen precepts. Thus, this class exposes students beyond the basic practice of zazen to service, Face-to- Face working with a teacher, precept practice and Council practice. Following the Council, there is time to ask questions of the instructor before the class concludes.

Jenny Jūsen Bright has practiced at the Zen Center of Los Angeles since 2015. Her Buddhist practice prior to that was with Ken McLeod and Unfettered Mind. She is a post-production producer for commercials, music videos and film, and loves hiking just about anywhere.
